Thiis is an email that I received from somebody, is it from your website? - Scott H

Hi,
My name is Mark . . . and I'm a recovered alcoholic.
I realize October is a little ways away . . . . But I like to allow plenty of time for the process. (There are about 1,000 of us on the list at aahistory.com alone)
I like to create personalized anniversary cards (from scratch) for friends of Bill W. Unfortunately, I think I've made, and sent, many in the past that were not received. If you would like to receive them in October . . . . . .
Please let me know, in the next week or two, so I can send you the links (I will create the files and upload them to my site) to a musical, animated, re-birthday greeting - and a link to your Medallion jpg you can copy and use for a desktop background if you would like!
Here is a link to a pic of #1 and #2 two helping #3.
(You can copy it if you'd like by right-clicking on the image)

If you aren't still sober . . . . please accept my apology for this email. I'm praying for you - either way!

Reply: Scott...NO, this person is not affiliated with our web site at all and continues to ask people if they are still sober despite numerous attempts to ask him to just change his wording...he refuses. You can block his email address if you like.

In Bill's story, Bill says that the men he commanded gave him a "special token of their appreciation". Any idea what it was?

Reply: His men awarded Bill and another officer a watch, chain and a ring...see Lois Remembers page 26-27.

Will the Big Book Concordance be available any time soon?

Reply: Sandy, the Blue Salamander Press Concordance will never be reprinted again. There are others available, but Stephen's concordance died with him with only 5000 being printed before his death.

Where did the saying "Once you a cucumber there's no going back to being a pickle" orginated and can it be found in any of our books or literature??

Reply: It turned up in the AA Grapevine in an article written by Dr Ruth Fox in January 1973...although the story had probably been around for years.

In the forwards, the Big Book originally stated that the reason for anonymity were that the numbers of members so amall and the members themselves working in other occupations, that they would be overwhelmed if they were NOT anonymous. Is this true, or was it really just that alcoholism was stigmatized and they feared repercussions?

Reply: Yes....it is true, they were not lying.

Are we as AA's supposed to state our membership in AA at the level of press, radio and film? For instance, would we say we're an AA member if we're an actress being interviewed on TV? Or writing a screenplay about ourselves?

Reply: The answer to all three of your questions is NO.

When I access the sobriety counter, it's 7 hours ahead of my time on the west coast. Is there a way to set the counter to reflect my time zone? Thank you.

Reply: Mike, yes there is....
First, check the time on YOUR computer...because the calculator uses YOUR computers time and date.
After you correct your clock...it should work fine.
