Reply: You might be thinking of Eddie R. he didnt break his leg though...he successfully climbed down the rain spout and ran off in search of a watering hole!

Gentlemen, sober on St. croix since 11/6/96. Here is the one glaring contradiction in our literature; the long form of the second tradition is shorter than the "short form." Personally, I have fun with it when the newcomer needs to know our program is not perfect I point him to this "contradiction!"

Why are the 12 steps written in past tense?

Reply: Kym, Because they are telling you that "these are the steps that we took".
They were writing down the method that worked for the first 100 men and women and these steps had already worked for them.

2nd edition page 180, first paragraph "That was June 10,1935 and that was my last drink as I write nearly six years have passed". 3rd and 4th editions read nearly 4 years.

Reply: This is true.

I read in some AA literature, an article concerning a woman who wrote Bill W. about the druggies invasions into AA. His reply was roughly like this..."We can allow them to sit but not participate" (those are my words not Bills). My question is is it possible to obtain a copy of that article from anywhere? thanking you in advance.

Reply: David, we cant find that article because Bill didn't say that. He was all inclusive and if the person had a desire to stop drinking, then, well....what would your Maker do?

I've heard two versions of who wrote "To Wives": one was that Bill wrote it, one that Lois did. Which is correct?

Reply: Bill wrote it.

Love the calculator! Emailed a bunch of fellow sober drunks your link...thank you!
Liked the idea of watching "what it was like" and "what it WOULD be like" on the "bar cam", but it didn't load...is it not working? When will it be up & running?
Thanks and blessings!

Reply: Jennifer, you must be using Firefox or Netscape for a web browser and the cams work fine.

What has been the longest recorded sobriety in AA

Reply: Since there are no records kept, we only have have word of mouth. I've heard of 67 years of sobriety. With folks coming in younger and younger, that will change. The only real record is 24 hours....no one has every gotten more than that in one day. :)
