My husband and I and 5 other couples were on the Joe & Charley Big Book Cruise in May 2007 (or 2006-having a slight memory lapse...lol) to Alaska and had a great time. Charley will be much missed for his humor and kindness. Hugs Char

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Charlie was a true friend and gave myself and friends love and kindness we have learned over the years to in turn give to others.

God Bless,

Met Joe & Charley in 1982 in Baton Rouge, LA. Was my first in-depth understanding of the Big Book. We crossed paths several times since the initial meeting and I have always been in awe of Charley's serenity. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Charlie (& Joe ) simplified The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. Their explanation of the program made it easy to understand, relevant, and easy to pass on to others.

Just like the film, "It's a Wonderful Life," Charlie (& Joe) had, and will continue to have an impact on the lives of many recovering alcoholics. Their simplification of The Big Book and the Program of A.A. will live on.

My condolences to your family, and sorrow for your loss.

I am sorry for your loss.
Charlie made a profound positive impact in my life. I heard his wonderful voice along with Joe's on very early cassette tapes that my sponsor used for an in home book study that I began attending in June, 1985. I will always treasure our time together on the BB Cruise in the Western Mediterranean as well as all the other times we shared at BB weekends.

I am so proud to have had the honor of knowing this wonderful man. Our Honeymoon cruise in 1993, we enjoyed the presence of Charlie & Barbara, Joe McC. & Phyllis, and David A. & Grace. We also attended several otehr seminars throughout the years. They have enriched our lives.

I can't imagine someone going through life not wondering if they can make a difference somewhere, to someone. Charlie made a difference in this world. Speaking for myself, his Big Book Study made such a powerful impression on me, that I have listened to it over and over again, recommending it to everyone I know. Speaking on a level anyone can understand and talking about things everyone can relate to, Charlie used his wisdom and humor to "keep it simple" and open up my mind to the glorious road to recovery. Thank you, Charlie and you are surely in heaven. My condolences to all your loving family, friends and those you have touched. You will be sorely missed.
