I have been in AA for four months. I have recently listened to Joe and Charlie Big Book Study and have found it inspirational and a huge help. This is down to the knowledge and easy going humour between Joe and Charlie. I liked Joes quips and huge and easy laughter. I wish I could of met him, its amazing he is still helping people like me from the other side. He seemed like a lovely chap.

heard JOE &CHARLIE in kilarney 1991. brought them back to Ennis in 1993. 470 people attended, great weekend,we precented JOE CHARLIE FRANK M with irish bourans(drums).i am blessed to have met them what a great great message,I am still holding BBS MEETINGS with there tapes, and on one to one sponcering, 22 people in last 2 years, so there message still goes on.LOVE fergie B

I don't know where this message is going to end up. I just want to say that it was a priviledge to have received an email response from Joe after I got sober in 2005. At a fine place called Hope Valley in Dobson NC, I was shown videos of Joe working his way through the Big Book. I learned a lot from these videos and about the Big Book. I sent Joe an email to thank him for doing these presentations and to thank him for helping me to get sober. I was saddened to learn of his death many years ago. I came across this website today while I was on the internet and thought I would leave a message. Joe's legacy of sobriety lives on today.

This message comes years after the passing of Joe McQ and Charley P. The greatest of my memories as a sober person is the night I walked into an AA meeting. I was late and I really didn't want to be there. The meeting was in progress and the group was listening to a recording on tape. Needless to say it was one of the "Joe and Charley" tapes... it was on step 3. The exact step I had been languishing on for weeks. We only listened to about 15 minutes of that tape and then we split off into a group discussion. When the meeting was over I would not leave the building until I was given all of the tapes to take home with me. I listened to all the tapes before the next week's meeting and ordered my own set from the recording company on the label.
Since that day, I have attended 3 of Charley and Joe's Big Book Study conferences, (1992 thru 1998), have had my own big book meetings for many, many years using these recordings and have Lived a Heaven on Earth-type of life because of what these 2 men brought into my life. "Carry This Message" is the theme I lived for many years since that wonderful night. That meeting was in the basement of a church's rectory in Glendale Heights, IL. in 1992. I have seen many, many men and women get sober and stay sober because of the message these 2 great men carried for so many years to so many thousands of us.
Thank you for sharing Joe and Charley with us. Their names and memories will never pass from this world of recovering peoples from around the world.

Jestem alkoholikiem i pochodzę z Polski. Obecnie mieszkam w Szkocji.
Mając 14 lat i 6 miesięcy abstynencji poprosiłem o sponsora. Mój sponsor (też Polak)przeprowadził mnie przez kroki za pomocą przewodnika Joe "Carry this Message". Jestem bardzo szczęśliwy, że tak się stało. Jutro omawiam ze swoim sponsorem 12 Krok. Od dwóch tygodni mam podopiecznego (Polaka), który nie pije 3 lata. Prowadzę go przez program za pomocą przewodnika napisanego przez Joe McQ. Jest to bardzo mądra książka.Jestem bardzo wdzięczny dla wspólnoty Anonimowych Alkoholików i dla Joe. Wierzę, że spotkam się z nim w domu naszego Pana. Dziękuję Joe!

I was sober and miserable the 1st 4 years someone in ky gave me acd about 6 months later I started listening and am so thankful to joe and Charlie iam now a happy sober man of 29 years its ok today
