The Big Books studies were introduced to me through Overeaters Anonymous. I am a drunk, but the eating disorder was killing. Betty, my friend, gave me the tapes. It has been over 20 years. I saw Joe speak once in Houston, TX. He helped saved my life. Now Ihave to give back.

After tripping around trying to understand the steps for 2 years, my sponsor took me to a Joe and Charlie Big Book Study, I took one of my sponsors. We learned more in those three days than the two years we had been trying to do it ourselves. Today 20 years later I still use their guidelines for the women I sponsor. God blessed those men with a special gift that will always be a direction for the lost.

While browsing through a recovery book shop I stumbled across Joe's book The Steps We Took. I did not buy it then but then had to make a special trip to buy it.

I am new to AA. D.O.S. June 17th of 07. But I am not new to life. I have found the book..just the first few pages so far..quintessentially well written. I am glad someone took the trouble to completely digest and restate the book of Alcoholics Anonymous and carry the message through the Steps in the form of this book. I find Joe's book entirely spiritual without an iota of any claim that it is so. He indeed is a guide to the blind who is stumbling through the thick forest called recovery in AA fellowship. God Bless Joe and his family. A belated thank you.

I am 20 years old ond the Joe and Charlie big book study really gave me a heads up on the life of addiction. And these two great men saved my life with the help of God as we understand him.

A true saint. After many attempts with treatment centers and sponsors I kept drinking, it wasn't until I got the tapes and let Joe and Charlie take me through the steps that I recovered from Alcoholism. I run a Joe and Charlie step group now to try to give what was so freely given to me. Truly inspiring!!

I thank God for men like Joe. Ten years ago when I was full of the fellowship and empty of any spirituality I asked for help from a sober member of AA. He was John H. and at my first meeting with him he told me I needed to listen the the Joe and Charlie Bog Book Study. We would read through the book together and I would listen to the tapes while at home. They helped my sponsor carry the message to me and they continue to help me carry the message to other Alcoholics. The message is that Freedom from Alcohol. Joe thank you so very much for all of your efforts throughout the years and God bless your family.
