I used these discs in a workshop 3 yrs ago and we have used them since. We are starting a new one now 12-2-08. These cd's helped me understand the big book better. I am 11 1/2 years sober and AA saved my life. With the help of these cd's I can use the steps in my life easier than using my own comprehension. God bless you and your family

Even though, I did not know of Joe until after he passed on, his work through the Joe & Charlie study has blessed and enriched my life. Thank you Joe for a life well spent, and God bless everyone you leave behind.

On my 20th AA Birthday I want to express my gratitude for the transformative boost which Charlie and Joe gave to my sobriety through their Scarborough England Big Book Study. I have such warm and grateful memories of that wonderful weekend and the warmth, humour, and love which emanated from those two beautiful men. Rest In Peace (and love)

Although not being an advocate of AA per se, and having found a system that 'works' for me, and me alone, Joe McQ was one of the most inspiring speakers I ever saw on video, specifically when I was at 'rock bottom', and his book: 'These are the Steps we Took' - which I possess, was pivotal in turning my life around from the Hell it was. I have only just found out of Joe's death, almost one year on from the time of such a sad loss. All I can say is that Recovery Dynamics is one of the best and most productive systems of halting alcoholism, or any 'ism' for that matter, where it stands, and then in assisting you in leaving it behind and to start a new life over with a superior lifestyle, heading in a direction you may not ever have thought possible. Joe will always be in my mind till the day I die, and his comments, study, suffering and eventual enlightenment - so as to 'pass it on' to me and to others - is something I will be forever grateful for. Rest in peace Joe. You did your piece for humanity admirably. And although we can never fathom the reasons why some of us have to experience such suffering and despair, often of our own choosing, to begin with, the release from the prison of any addiction and ability then to lead productive lives - by the grace of the force that runs through all things - is, I deduce, just part of the whole web of destiny. I can't change that. But what I can change I have the courage and confidence today to do so, thanks in part to Joe McQ. May you rest peacefully my friend. I will pass on your good works. Mark G (UK).

I thank God for Joe & Charlie - they enhanced my recovery and gave me the program I didn't have. The program I had been missing. Without this study I do not know that I would be sober today. I share it with everyone I meet in my AA community.

I meet Joe at a meeting in Sacramento, CA in 1994 when I was two years sober at the age of 29. He was humble, wise and serene. At the time, I did not know who he was but wanted what he had! Later, I read his book, 'The Steps We Took ," my favorite writing on the the 12 steps. (Excuse the lack of underscore. The form did not accept them). This work inspired me to write my own reflections on recovery. My sobriety date is 6-4-1992, and I have submitted 5 articles to the "AA Grapevine." Although the magazine has rejected my work so far, I'm undaunted and know my experience, strength and hope of 16 years of sobriety is worth sharing. Joe left an incredible legacy. The world is a better place because he was here.

I'm sorry to hear of Joe's passing. The tapes he made were instrumental in helping me to understand this condition of alcoholism. I'm grateful for him taking the time to pass this message on and doing it with humility and humour.
Best wishes

I met Joe here in Panama City on Feb 20 1988, your records can prove they were here giving a Big Book Study. I was well pleased when I meet Joe, it was an inspiration and a joy. I'm an african american who sobered up in 1986. My sober date is and still the same, 25 May 1986. My original sponsor and still friend, Bob B., who lives in Pensacola, Florida gave me a Joe AA Speaker tape which I had been listening to for months before I met Joe. I related so much to Joe and I tried to follow and imitate his teachings and beliefs in my own personal life. I proud myself, now and then as I'm a student of the Big Book and I love what it has given me personally. After being sober for 22 years which has been a blast and challenging and enduring when it comes to watching so many around you through the years make it and retry to make it, I'm ever so thankful for my humble beginnings which has made me a father, friend, brother, and spouse to a woman I never thought I would say that about even though we've part and she's living her life and i'm still being who God has shape and mold me into as I journey this life sober. Thank-you Joe, you told me and I still have my original Big Book you and Charlie Signed. I had to retire it pages are falling all out of it I show it off at anniversaries and such. Farices W.
