To Joe's family, I send my condolenses for your loss of a gentle and compassionate man. My prayers will be with you and may you find shelter in God's love at this time.
I am a recovering alkie because of joe and charlie. I have been sober now for nearly ten years and i have the tapes of their visit to Cairns, Queensland Australia back in the early 90's. Their understanding and simplicity of communicating the message of AA is what helped me to get sober, sane and even show and communicate the same simply message-i am alcoholic and my primary purpose is to stay sober and help the suffering alkie to achieve sobreity. I never got to meet Joe yet when i listen to those tapes its like he is sitting right beside me teaching me HOW to merrily trudge the road of recovery.
May God Bless you in your time of grief and I thank Joe for being who he truely was - a recovering alkie helping another.
Thank you and God Bless, Julie Screen.

My first contact with Joe and Charlie was in Pompano Beach FL. When they came to town you were urged to attend the session. I have heard many of the tapes and my favorite one has always been the one recorded in Akron in March 1988. It is one my prized possessions.
My thoughts and feelings are with you, all.

I met Joe on 2 occassions in England. On the 2nd, he & Charlie came with me to thelocal women's prison at Styal near Manchester to take the meeting. They also donated tapes for the group.
They were at the end of busy schedule yet had the time for these women and me. I treasure the memory and the photos taken that day.
Much love to you all. He was one of a kind.

Because of Joe McQuany, I am on my way to the life he taught me that I could have. He was a "giant" among men, and while we will be devoid of his earthly presence, Heaven is all the richer now that he is at home with the Heavenly Father.

My deepest gratitude goes out to Joe for his singleminded purpose in reaching out to guys like me. I pray that the Lord's peace and comfort remain with Joe's folks and near ones in your time of grief. A great soul has shown others like myself that impossible odds can be beaten on a daily basis. I am in a country halfway around the world, but am deeply united in carrying out our primary purpose. You will live on, Joe. Until wee meet again. Gratefully yours, Fabian S., India
