Some A.A.'s in my neighborhood started a Big Book Step Study after meeting Joe and learning from him and Charlie. This meeting became my home group in 1992 and yesterday I celebrated 15 years sober. I am sorry for your loss, and please know that many live because of your loved one's tireless contribution to A.A.

I want to thank the family for sharing this time with us. I first saw and heard Joe and Charlie in Eureka Springs Ark when I first got sober. I purchased the tape as it was difficult for me to remember all they had to say and share. I have listened to it many times and use the information. I want to thank you as the family for allowing them to spread the message and time to so many recovering alcoholics. I know you will miss him in his passing. He leaves behind a great legacy to us who are still working this program one day at a time.
Thank you for allowing me to share this small amount of words with you at this time as he has blessed many people. Thanks and with heartfelt love. Carlyon

Over the past few years I have been in aa meetings all over Europe and everywhere I go Joe had touched and was touching people and helping them recover from alcoholism. The legacy in Iceland was wonderful to behold.
The gift keeps on giving,

My heart goes out to you all. Joe touched my spirit and introduced me to God and recovery through his Big Book Study with his mate Charlie. Their undying gratitude to the program of Alcoholics Anonymous revealed to me the true meaning of sobriety. Before them I only knew of God now I am beginning to know God. Thank you so much.

I recall attending a Joe & Charlie Big Book Study, when they were here in New Zealand some years ago. I think it was sometime around the late 1980s. It was a remarkable day and very well attended by the Fellowship in New Zealand.
To Joe's family .... you can be so very proud of Joe, and the contribution he made to the sobriety of many people.
May your God help you to find strength and courage in your grief.

Joe and Charlie really unlocked the mystery of the Big Book for me. They made it easy to understand AND fueled my interest in the history of AA. Most importantly, he gave his time - his time - to share his love of the program so thousands of others could come to study and love it with him. Thanks Joe, you are the main speaker tonight at the big meeting.
