I have just discovered the tapes and am so glad to be able to incorporate their ideas into my sponsorship and my own program. I find that the longer I am sober, the deeper I am having to go to maintain my level of sobriety. Thank you for your service.

Hi
I was reading from the big book in bed tonight, the first time for a while, and my thoughts turned to the big book study I attended in Blackpool, England in 1997. On the second day I met Joe & Charlie as I took a walk alone along the promenade. I was feeling a bit lost - dazed and confused. I was attending because of eating disorders and was still in denial about my alcohol and drug use. That day on the promenade I felt scared and shy - torn between wanting to be invisible and seen. Joe and Charlie invited me to join them! We had fish and chips at Harry Ramsden's and went to the fair where Joe looked after the bags instead of coming on the Revolution - a hair-raising ride that involved being upside down. Joe was very wise! I was in awe of him and Charlie but Joe in particular felt strangely familiar and I felt right at home with him and sad when the evening came and it was time to join the rest of the conference again. I'd forgotten how much this day meant to me. I've since got 13 years clean and sober time and a wonderful son who is also called Joe! The light and warmth shown by your Joe is as bright today as ever. I feel certain he kept good company so God bless you nearest and dearest to him. Regards Cathy B

I'm just amazed at Joe's abilities and unselfishness. Today's technology keeps his message and teachings alive, and for that I am truly grateful.

After 9 mnths in A.A. I was at the jumping off point,on the edge of a black hole. Then I heard the tapes and they pulled me back. Soon after that I met the man on page 18. The rest is history,it was God's will that I become the man on page 18, that was 17 yrs ago. All because because Joe caught my attention when he told the joke about page 69 and page 96, funny old world eh!

Joe's books are among my staples. I was reading his rendition of the 4th step last night. Today, I decided to see what was going on with Joe. I came across his memorial site. I am so sorry for your loss. Joe was wonderful.

Listening to Joe and Charlie explain, the nature of alcoholism, and the message of the big book, helped me in ways i cant explain in my earliest days of sobriety.I just wanted to leave my condolences to Joe`s family and friends. and say thanks for everything that his wisdom and humility has done to help me on my recovery.

I only recently was given a copy of the tapes after 16 years of sobriety. This is the best Big Book AA I have ever heard. What a Service legacy Joe & Charlie have given their fellow members! I would love to hear Charlie and the new Joe in person. If you can tell me how to contact them I would be very appreciative. Thanks.
