Where would A.A. be without the devotion of our dear friend Nell? I am grateful she decided to pour her talent and care into a then unproven organization. Many would have never considered the job at the time. I hope someone is able to say when I am gone, what we all know to be true about Nell. She made a difference. Her contributions improved the lives of countless individuals and families. God bless you Nell Wing!

What can I say...Nell did so much for so many and she probably only knows of less than 3% that she touched.
In the future, her work will be helping people that are not even born yet today. It's too late, it's too little, but today we say "thanks Nell".

My condolences and prayers go to Nell's loved ones during this time of grieving. I hope that the affection and admiration so many of us had for Nell provides you some measure of comfort.

I was priviledged to meet Nell 3x in the mid 1990's when she visited The Wilson House with her friend Joan Bloomfield. I had read about Nell & her conributions in the AA history texts, but nothing could have prepared me for meeting her in person. The excitement & joy radiating from my late boss Ozzie Lepper upon hearing the news, and the buzz spreading like wildfire among the local members, indicated something truly special was about to unfold.

I happened to be working the front desk on 8/26/94 when Nell & Joan arrived at Wilson House. It wasn't till later in the stay that I got to really know her. Ozzie was talking with Nell & Joan on the porch Saturday morning, and I was emptying Butt Cans and sweeping the sidewalks. I heard Ozzie calling me ~ Nell had spotted me, and was asking Ozzie about his "new young volunteer who was so courteous when we checked in." I ended up having a wonderful 90 minute interlude, as Nell brought me into the conversation and made me feel like the most important person among them all. I cannot tell you what a wonderful impression Nell made upon me. She was the epitomy of graciousness, and genuine warm affection to me personally, and everyone else I watched her interact with that weekend. In subsequent years, I'd be just as excited as Ozzie when I'd find out Nell was coming for her annual visit.

Nell has been prominent in my thoughts since I heard the news of her passing. I wish I could be there in person to pay my respects to all of you, and say a proper farewell to my friend Nell.

My heart goes out to all of you.
DEAN

I heard a woman from your area speak here in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where I wintered last year, she spoke so highly of Nell and her many abilities to communicate with AA's and Alanon's all over the world. She has truely helped to "carry the message" that there is life after "death", just as it says in both "good books". Alcoholism is, "death", until we recover absolutely by abstaining completely from the alcohol that poisons our bodies. My sincere hope is that you will remember your gain for having her in your life, and my deepest sympathy for your loss of Nell. Of course it is a loss for the AA community. She will be remembered well and often. Thank you NELL!! Hugs and a cup of strong AA coffee I lift up in honor of you and the life you helped give us!!
