I am sorry that I never met her, but I am sure she was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. It is a trementous lost for those of us in AA. Her knowing Bill and Lois must have been a great inspiration for her also. Nell Wing may God give the oportunity to work with those in Heaven. God Bless you for being a part of this great fellowship.

Dear Family,
It may be sadness that you are feeling right now but Nell has been a catalyst for much happiness for so many others. I had the pleasure of meeting Nell at Burr & Burton Academy. Where she spoke after the ceremony at the graves of Bill and Lois in East Dorsett, Vermont. She just seemed to have a such a sweet and inuative way about her. She will be missed but I would bet that there is a wonderful reunion going on 'Up Yonder.' Love to all and thank you Nell for your wonderful service.

A thought and a prayer for Nell and all she has meant for our fellowship. While I only arrived in AA in 1975, the history of AA and its preservation has been inspirational to me. Thank you again Nell, Brian A.

I never met Nell that I know of (though it's possible that on one of my early visits to GSO in the late 70s that our paths may have crossed.) But, I am grateful that Bill had her at his side because I am convinced that we needed every level headed non-alcoholic we could find in those early days to keep the ship afloat. In a less direct way I also feel a sense of gratitude to Nell for my personal sobriety. In Dec. of 1972, when I hit a treatment center outside of Chicago, at the age of 20, they gave us 2 books. The Big Book and AA Comes of Age. I wasn't really ready for the Big Book, so I tried the first few pages of AA Comes Of Age, and was hooked by this improbable story of a bunch of rebellious alcoholics maintaining not only their sobriety, but an organization without any designated leaders. That was something I had to know more about, and I devoured the book over the next few days. My sobriety since then has been sustained by the work of those amazing men and women. Knowing who we are, knowing where we come from, and always remembering the true story of how we got here (warts and all) is essential to our success in the next 24 hours. Thanks Nell for helping to ensure our future.
